Spring 2017…..

Well 2017 is looking to be a very exciting and busy year for us as we will be building and opening a new Farm Shop, not just to sell our delicious home reared beef and home grown vegetables but also stocking delicious local produce from West Penwith and beyond. We will also be selling our home made pasties, using all home grown ingredients for the filling, these are sure to get people coming back for more! We received planning permission in August 2016 so now for the big build.
This is what the Farm Shop will look like once it’s up:

Autumn time on the farm

We have had a busy time on the farm over the past couple of months, finishing the harvesting of the barley and the lupins. These will be made into a mix for the cattle over the winter. We use all home grown forage and cereals, even protein from the lupins so we don’t have to buy any food in. We know exactly how it is grown and that it is definitely NOT GM! We sell some small bale hay and straw and this is a lot more labour intensive and quite hard work to get into the barn so that kept us busy for a while too!

Some of the land we rent has gone into ‘Higher level stewardship’ which has taken some time to fence around and get water supply for a few of the cattle to graze there in the spring, not to mention the HUGE amount of paper work this takes, Richard is not keen on this side of farming!

Our cattle are still out in the fields at the moment so continue to graze the lush grass of the Lamorna valley, while the sun is shining on their backs at the beginning of November.

We have had a steady stream of beef orders from the new website and with Nationwide delivery you can have a piece of Cornwall on your plate within a few days. Some great reports from our customers too, our beef has been described as comparable to Wyagu beef (I’m sure it’s better though)! See trip advisor and our Facebook page for some excellent reviews.

We have fresh beef at the moment so it’s a good idea to get some in before the Christmas rush! Also order now for fresh Cornish Beef for Christmas shot

Fresh Grass Fed Beef

Our beef will be coming back from the butchers tomorrow 18th August. To order some of our delicious grass fed beef just go to the ‘Shop Our Delicious Cornish Beef’ tab.

The farm has been busy over the past few weeks with silage and hay being made despite the ‘catchy’ weather this Summer. Richard hasĀ started combining the Barley today, this will be milled and used to feed our cattle while they are kept in over the Winter. The straw will be used to bed the cattle over winter too.

We keep getting asked what the crop at the end of the lane is. We grow our own lupins which Richard will be combiningĀ in a few weeks . We use these in our cattle feed over the winter as the protein element of their diet. This means we do not need to buy in protein which is very expensive and difficult to guarantee GM free.

The cattle are out enjoying the lush Summer grass and the sunshine between the showers!combine
